Here at Katastari area, just 17Km from the town, in the center
of the island, you can find ARCHONTIKO VILLAGE, which is one
of the few buildings survived the 1953 earthquake. Build on
the side of a mountain, surrounded by olive trees, only 800
meters from Alykes tourist resort, the most beautiful, calm
and clean beach.
Because of the best climate in Greece, (many rains during the
winter and not too much heat in the summer), the mountains are
full of pine trees forests and all the other places are full
of olive trees and flowers. That’s why the Venetians named
Zakynthos “Flower of the Orient” (Fior’ di
Levante).
