| Archontiko history |
|
Archontiko (translated In English as “The Lords House” ) was built in 1846 by brothers George and Stephan Voutos. It originally traded as an olive oil factory and a flour mill, in which some of the original machinery is still on show today. Unfortunately in 1953 a big earthquake hit the island and destroyed the majority of buildings however, Archontiko stayed intact and had no damage at all. Later, the buildings were re-enforced to comply with the new Island building regulations and were converted by Stefanos Voutos, the grandson, into very traditional Greek Masionettes. Six more villas were built on the land and the project was named Archontiko Village. Today, Archontiko Village stands with the same glory and abundance that it did when it was originally built in 1846. The Voutos family, remain and the estate is being run by brothers Pavlos and Dimitris (The Great Grandsons of Stephan). |
